North Korea Using THORChain for Crypto Laundering
John-Paul Thorbjornsen, a former Australian Air Force pilot turned crypto entrepreneur, has been promoting his new Vultisig wallet, built on THORChain. However, security experts have traced a spike in activity on Vultisig and THORChain to North Korea’s Lazarus hacking group. Following a $1.4 billion hack of crypto exchange Bybit, researchers tracked nearly $1.2 billion of the stolen funds through THORChain, which has become a key part of North Korea’s laundering operations.
